[Explanation] The Archaeological Institute of Jinan has started archaeological excavations on the ruins of Gaodu Sixiang Primary School in the old city of Jinan since November 2019. At present, there have been excavated and cleaned up 5 construction sites from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China, and the remains of drainage ditches, roads, ash pits and so on. It is worth mentioning that the preliminary analysis of one of the remains may be a simple reservoir or spring pond, and it is speculated from the stratum and unearthed porcelain that the age may have been as early as the Ming Dynasty.

[Commentary] On April 22, the reporter saw at the site of the archaeological site of the site that a pond-like ruin of about 1 meter wide with blue bricks and stones on the four walls was stored in the pit bottom of the site about 1.4 meters away Full of water.

Found its four walls, and then built it more regularly, and then at the bottom of the pool, it was also layered with bricks and stones. The pool is filled with some late-stage filling. One is regular, and the other is more prone to seepage. In this case, we speculate from these aspects that it may be such a simple reservoir or spring pond built by residents at that time. This pond is located under the fourth floor. The age of the fourth floor should be in the early Qing Dynasty. The main body of the porcelain piece in the pond is also in the early Qing Dynasty. In this case, the pond should be out of the fourth floor. The age of things should be early. According to preliminary judgment, the age of this pool may be as early as the Ming Dynasty.

[Explanation] The above-mentioned suspected spring pond remains are located in the northwest corner of the entire excavation area. In the east area are several excavated houses from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China, with architectural relics such as house foundations, gate stones, drainage ditches, kitchens or workshops.

According to the different architectural forms of our house and the broken relationship between this house, we can divide this house into 8 groups, and then one of them means that only one group (number F1) is relatively complete Yes, it should be said to represent a representative of urban dwellings during the period of the Republic of China. On the south side of the house, we found an east-west direction, such a road (path) paved with blue bricks and stones, stacked on the courtyard of the F1 house at that time, under the ground of the courtyard at that time. Based on the age of the porcelain pieces unearthed in this stratum, we judge that the age of this path should be from the Qing Dynasty.

[Commentary] Fang Zhen told reporters that, according to speculation, the area where the site was located was likely to be the residence of noble officials in the Qing Dynasty. After the changes of the times, it became an ordinary urban residence in the Republic of China. In the next step, the archaeological site will continue to excavate the remaining parts. After the excavation work is completed, the Shandong Provincial Cultural Relics Department will carry out the acceptance. After the acceptance, the experts will determine whether the discoveries in the project have retained value or other treatments.
