Just two days after the Pedro Sánchez government decreed the state of alarm, Alejandro Sanz offered a home concert with Juanes over the internet to encourage people in a confinement that was just released at the time.

On March 25, he published a new song, The world outside , inspired by the current crisis and this Monday he started a collaborative project in which he invites his followers to send him videos with their experiences on the coronavirus pandemic and the measures to prevent it . With the material he receives during this week, he will make a documentary film that will also be called The World Outside . It is evident that the musician from Madrid is following the news with concern and he has spoken on the phone with EL MUNDO from his residence in Madrid.

In his new song, 'The world outside', he tries to convey messages of hope and encouragement, and recently wrote on Twitter: "We will change for the better". Will we change for the better? There are people who think that not at all, that the human being has a very fragile memory, and some people think otherwise. I am positive because I am not overly optimistic in this regard. The human being tends to forget too quickly, but on the other hand, I want to think that there are things that we have all learned, at least the value of things like relationships of affection and closeness. What I trust the least is machinery, the world of power, politics and the economy. That is the one that will easily forget all the good things that we have learned now. In the lyrics she sings several times about hugs and kisses, about that kind of physical closeness that we cannot have now. In the last decades personal relationships have changed with virtual contact. Have we remembered now that virtual relationships can not replace physical contact? In relationships it is true that things have changed, Now people cut by WhatsApp. It is true that displays of affection, hugs, kisses, that is irreplaceable, and now people are appreciating it much more. See if we will have content to entertain ourselves at home, but everyone would change it to be able to go outside and have a drink with a friend or hug their brothers. This crisis has put things in perspective and has helped us to distinguish the beads from what really has value. As a man from Madrid, what feelings does seeing the images of the city produce in you? Well, imagine. I am very excited. On the one hand it makes me very sad to see all that suffering and to see that it is a practically besieged place, but it also makes me feel very proud to see how people have responded. People have shown their solidarity as they have never done, not as an act of charity, because solidarity is to work all in the same direction. What moves you the most? The delivery of all services in general, from professionals from health and law enforcement, but also the people who work in supermarkets, or street sweepers, transporters ... Everyone is giving himself well beyond duty. And then there is something that hurts me a lot which is the issue of nursing homes, how can that not have been taken care of a little more? A generation that fought so hard for this society and dies without respirators, that moves me a lot. In fact of the more than 7,000 people who have officially died in Madrid, some 5,200 have been elderly in nursing homes. That should embarrass us for the rest of our lifetime. And measures should be taken in the residences so that such a thing does not happen again. You could see it coming a long time ago, a lot of news was coming out about the neglect of the residences, about how they were managed, that catastrophe had been predicted, and it has exploded with this situation. All that that was getting under the carpet has come out. A reconversion is needed in everything that has to do with residences and care for the elderly, who are people who have worked all their lives and who deserve to live the end of their days with dignity. The Government is already warning that culture is probably It will not come out of the block until the end of the year. What does that mean for Spanish music? The culture sector is going to be very affected, of course. First of all, obviously, this is over and a vaccine is found and no one else suffers from this horrible disease. That said, there are 700,000 families who live off culture in this country. Those people are going to suffer a lot. We are already talking to the Ministry of Culture to make a plan as it has been done in the other sectors and to say how it will help those workers who are mostly self-employed, who do not have any help now that this has happened, and that they live practically up to date. Let's see what happens. On April 8, the Minister of Culture, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, said at a press conference a phrase widely criticized in the sector, "Today it is time to think about the sick and the time will come to promote culture "... Yes, well, he knows perfectly well that he was very unfortunate at the time, totally out of place, and he already apologized. I suppose that the circumstances surpass everyone, but the truth is that he is the Minister of Culture and obviously he has to understand the uncertainty and doubts of the sector. Nor is it time to make too harsh assessments. It is time to think about working and I think you are already preparing a plan. Yes, on Friday the Ministry announced that the Council of Ministers next Tuesday is going to approve a package of specific aid measures for culture. It seems good to me, it is an important sector that generates a lot of Gross Domestic Product and that also contributes to the brand of our country. A country that is supported by its culture is supported by itself, it is creating a residue that will generate employment but also a collective conscience. It is fair that a country also cares about its culture. How do you assess the government's management of this crisis? Now is not the time, the time will come later to say the things that were not done well. If in the midst of a crisis you start to value management, the only thing you will do is create uncertainty and probably much worse functions. What is important is that we all contribute what we know, but criticizing for criticizing is worthless. Today Pedro Sánchez and Pablo Casado have announced that they were going to sit at a table to handle the crisis. Perfect! That is what they have to do, that is what the Spanish want, that our politicians put themselves at the service of the people to work in a situation of absolute crisis, not that they start throwing the junk at their heads, because that does not It is of no use to anyone, it only serves to twitch. Give a solution or get out of the way, but don't get in the way.
