Petanque everywhere, especially during confinement. Olivier Bourg, former host and humorist notably on Fun Radio, has chosen to retrain thanks to the mini-pétanque. Since last summer, he has organized mini-pétanque tournaments in bars in the Drôme, where he lives, or on various occasions such as the Christmas village of Liège. For this, it develops tables specific to this practice, and launches crowdfunding to build them.

“When I organized the tournaments, it was complicated to build several fields. So I decided to create it myself, with a tapestry covering with sand. But it was not very practical. I managed to find a manufacturer in Belgium who made a suitable synthetic, and I had a folding table made to make it easier, ”explains Olivier Bourg.

Like real pétanque

Tables 2.4 meters long by about 80 cm wide and 75 cm high allow you to play mini-pétanque, with balls of 60 g for 3 cm in diameter, and a jack of 10 g for 1 cm in diameter . “These are the same sensations as with real pétanque. We can point, shoot, make tiles, ”explains Olivier Bourg.

Before confinement, he was called by campsites, companies for seminars, to offer this animation of mini-pétanque, hence his idea of having complaint and transportable tables. "There it is a little dead with containment. We are all a little bored so I had the idea to talk again about mini-pétanque, a good way to have fun even with little, piglets are enough, "he explains. While waiting for the tables, you can play anywhere with the means at hand, that's also the mini-pétanque. He also launched a containment contest, you can send him the videos of your best shots, and the winner will win a set of mini-pétanque.

But also to see a little further. “I could offer the sale or rental of these tables in the Ehpad. While doing research, I realized that the mini-pétanque could be useful for the elderly, it makes them work the balance, stimulates them. The mini-petanque has a role in socializing, everyone can play, and it is intergenerational, ”says Olivier Bourg.

National or even international federation

In order to finance the manufacture of the tables, he launched a kitty on Ulule. “I sell tables for around 500 euros. But they can very quickly be amortized for bars, campsites or nursing homes. If many people participate in the kitty, and many order tables from me, I could place a larger order and reduce production costs. For a resale price of around 300-350 euros, ”he explains.
