In Burma, dozens of local NGOs and rebel groups are calling for a ceasefire in the country. Faced with the health threat from the coronavirus, NGOs are concerned about the risks for civilians living in conflict zones. This is the case, for example, in the west of the country, in Arakan state and in Chin state, where clashes have left more than 100,000 displaced since last year. Burma currently has more than 60 cases of covid-19, a figure that could be largely underestimated.
