According to the Guangzhou New Coronary Pneumonia Epidemic Report issued on April 13 by the Guangzhou Health and Health Commission on April 13, a newly confirmed case of overseas import-related diagnosis was an international student from Guangdong University of Technology. The disease control report shows that the male case is 28 years old, of Congolese (DRC) origin, and resides in Guangzhou on Chengfeng Street, Guanghua Liu Road, Huangshi Street, Baiyun District, and has recently been active near the residence and Xiaobei Road in Yuexiu District.

Guangdong University of Technology stated that the foreigner had studied Chinese at Guangdong University of Technology from September 2019 to January 2020, and ended his studies and left school on January 10. He was stranded in Guangzhou due to the epidemic. After leaving school, he has been living outside the school and has never returned to the school.

Earlier, South China Normal University had also responded to the case of foreign students contracting new coronary pneumonia. A Sierra Leonean patient with new coronary pneumonia studied Chinese from March 13th, 2019 to January 15th, 2020 at the School of International Culture of South China Normal University. South China Normal University stated that the foreigner is no longer a foreign student in the school. Foreigners did not enter the school after leaving school until the diagnosis.

According to the Guangzhou Health and Health Commission, as of 24:00 on April 13th, a total of 488 cases of new coronary pneumonia were diagnosed in Guangzhou, and 123 cases were imported overseas.
