Medical equipment maker rushes to increase respirator production Saitama Apr. 8 18:23

In preparation for a shortage of respirators due to the spread of the new coronavirus, medical device manufacturers in Saitama City are preparing partially to improve respirators, which are usually exported overseas, to increase production. I'm in a hurry.

A medical device manufacturer in Nishi Ward, Saitama City, manufactures ventilators for patients who underwent general anesthesia in the operating room for Southeast Asia.

This respirator is not used in Japan, but in the event of a shortage of respirators in Japan due to the spread of the new coronavirus, the country will be able to use it by partially improving it. And that we are studying.

For this reason, manufacturers have begun preparations to produce 40 units per month, more than 10 times the normal number.

We will procure necessary parts, recall retired technicians, etc., and establish a new production line next week to start increasing production.

The challenge is that the demand for respirators is increasing worldwide and it is difficult to procure some parts.

Ryoichi Kanasaka, president of Sanko Works, said, "We need to make preparations in case the infection spreads and the respirator is not enough, so we want to work on increasing production."
