With "immense sadness", the city of Saint-Louis, in the Haut-Rhin, announced the death on Monday of its mayor, Jean-Marie Zoellé. Hospitalized due to respiratory failure linked to Covid-19, the elected official was transferred on 28 March from the hospital in Mulhouse to that of St. Petrus, in Bonn, Germany.

"The containment measures do not authorize, for the time being, a tribute ceremony which will be organized at the lifting of the sanitary measures", specified the border municipality, belonging to the agglomeration of Basel. An email address has been created to allow the public to pay tribute to the mayor: hommageaumaire@ville-saint-louis.fr
