On Tuesday, 411 of the 620 residential establishments for dependent elderly (Ehpad) in the Grand-Est were affected by the coronavirus, or 66%. The report of the regional health agency (ARS) reports 570 deaths due to the epidemic in these structures.

The Haut-Rhin, with 314 deaths in nursing homes, has more than half of these deaths. 71 deaths are to be deplored in Bas-Rhin, 53 in Moselle, 46 in Vosges, 32 in Haute-Marne, 19 in Meuse, 16 in Meurthe-et-Moselle, 15 in Marne and 4 in Aube. "In the nursing homes affected by the Covid, the death rate is 1.56% regionally", specifies the ARS.

Surgical masks for all caregivers

An action plan to strengthen prevention has been announced. It provides for "the compulsory wearing of surgical masks for all nursing staff working in nursing homes in the Grand-Est", a medical on-call and reinforcement of staff "by mobilizing the on-call system of nurses graduates of State by night, by pooling staff on a territory or by using nursing students ”, as well as psychological support for staff.
