Beijing News (Reporter Li Yifan) Today (April 1), the "Wu Chunhong Poisoning Case" opened a retrial sentence in Henan High Court. Wu Chunhong was acquitted.

The Beijing News previously reported that on November 15, 2004, the two sons defeated by the electrician king in Zhougang Village, Minquan County, Henan Province, had been poisoned, and his 3-year-old son Wang Cheng (pseudonym) rescued him from death. It was identified that both were poisoned by "rat poison". Seven days later, the Criminal Police Brigade of the Public Security Bureau of Minquan County announced that the case had been resolved. From June 23, 2005 to October 30, 2007, the Intermediate People's Court of Shangqiu City sentenced Wu Chunhong to three years of reprieve for intentional homicide, but both were sent back to the court for retrial on the grounds of "unclear facts" by the Henan High Court. Later the fourth court of Shangqiu City Intermediate Court was sentenced to life imprisonment again for intentional homicide.

After Wu Chunhong filed an appeal, the Henan High Court ruled to dismiss the appeal and upheld the original sentence. Since then, Wu Chunhong's appeal was also rejected by the Henan High Court. While serving her sentence, Wu Chunhong firmly pleaded not guilty and refused to reduce his sentence. On June 3, 2016, he filed a complaint with the Supreme Court. On October 3, 2018, Wu Chunhong's daughter Wu Lili received the Supreme Court's "Retrial Decision": "Wu Chunhong's evidence of intentional homicide is inaccurate and inadequate. The Henan High Court was ordered to conduct a retrial in this case."
