One of the biggest problems hospitals face today is the face of emerging corona disease. These machines allow patients to breathe when they cannot breathe on their own, and the price of each artificial respirator is currently approximately $ 30,000. The voluntary MIT-Vent team, consisting of engineers, doctors, computer scientists and others, has developed a safe and inexpensive alternative to these devices, for use in emergency situations, and can be easily made anywhere in the world at low cost, according to the Future Observatory. Dubai Future Foundation.

The team relied on a previous idea developed by students in consultation with local doctors for a simple breathing apparatus that can be made using parts not exceeding $ 100. They published a detailed paper on their design, but work was completed at that point, and the team resumed work on this project with a heavy focus on speed.

This simple and inexpensive device works using a plastic bag mask with a manual valve, called an AMBO bag, and there are a large number of it in hospitals. It is designed for the medical professional or emergency technician to manually occupy it, in order to allow the patient to breathe artificially in cases such as heart attack, until artificial respirators are available. A tube enters the patient's respiratory tract as usual, and then air is pumped into the lungs by pressing and dropping the elastic cyst, a task intended for workers trained to assess the patient's condition and adjust the timing of pressure.
