Prevention is better than cure. This has been the leitmotif of Philippe de Gonneville since the start of the coronavirus epidemic and especially of containment. After denouncing the behavior of new arrivals on the Cap Ferret peninsula, the mayor of the Girondine commune asks the owners not to rent their property in the coming weeks.

"This would risk attracting an additional population to us, jeopardizing our capacity to provide care, particularly at the Ares medical center, already overworked city doctors, and our ability to provide food for all," says he with France 3 Aquitaine. The population of Lège-Cap Ferret would already have increased from 8 to 12,000 people in 15 days.

A message sent by the tourist office

To get the message across, Philippe de Gonneville had this request sent in writing by the city tourist office. They fear in particular the arrival of new people during the Easter holidays despite the containment measures prohibiting this kind of travel. Some real estate agencies announce for their part not to rent property by April 15.
