Sexual Offenses Criminal Code Requirements Based on Actual Situation To Be Discussed at Review Meeting Ministry of Justice March 30 4:40

In light of the need to reconsider the penal code for sexual offenses, the Ministry of Justice will set up a new study panel next month to discuss the actual requirements of the penal code.

To consider measures for sexual offenses, a working group of the Ministry of Justice gathered reports from interviews with victims and experts.

The report states, "Unless the current law finds that there has been assault or intimidation, it will not be recognized as a crime and will be far from the actual situation." It is pointed out that it is necessary to review the criminal law.

Based on this, the Ministry of Justice will set up a new study group next month with members of sexual crime victims and discuss the requirements of criminal law in line with the actual situation.

It is expected that opinions will be exchanged at the study meeting on the necessity of law revision, strengthening measures to prevent recidivism and enhancing support for victims.
