The number of coronavirus-related deaths continues to grow in Occitania. Friday evening at 10 p.m., the death toll stood at 23 deaths and 185 hospitalizations, including 67 in intensive care. It is six more deaths than the day before.

The total of 520 confirmed cases in Occitania also has little significance: "the strategy of targeted tests now makes the number of confirmed cases less relevant," recognizes the ARS. A move towards an epidemiological monitoring indicator such as that of seasonal flu is underway by Santé Publique France.

Five confirmed deaths in Perpignan

Hérault remains the most affected department in the region, with 61 hospitalized people, including 21 placed in intensive care. But the day on Friday confirmed the existence of a cluster in Perpignan. Five people died there as a result of Codiv-19. Among them, a young woman of 24 years old.

Five people have also died of coronavirus in Hérault since the start of the epidemic, including three residents of the same nursing home in Mauguio. Aude is the department of Occitania most affected by the deaths: eight to date. In addition, if cases are confirmed in each of the thirteen departments, the Lot is the only one of them where no patient is to date hospitalized.
