A doctor from Sarthe has put online a questionnaire to detect a potential coronavirus infection, with the help of researchers and doctors from the Pasteur Institute, Paris Hospitals and several CHUs. Objective: guide patients on their state of health to avoid saturation of 15.

No more crowded waiting rooms and unnecessary phone calls. Fabrice Denis, doctor at the Jean Bernard center in Le Mans, in Sarthe, developed an online questionnaire to detect coronavirus with the help of researchers and doctors from the Pasteur Institute, Paris Hospitals and several CHUs.

CORONAVIRUS ESSENTIALS

> What do we know about the lifespan of the epidemic?

> Update on the exit permit required to travel

> How long are we contagious?

> How to obtain a compensated work stoppage in order to keep your children?

> Our advice if you are sick at home

Objective of the test, identified by France Bleu: orient patients on their state of health to avoid saturation of 15. The specialist claims that thanks to this tool, the number of unnecessary calls has been reduced by almost a third in the department.

23 questions, 5 answers possible

The test contains 23 questions relating to both symptoms (cough, fever, sore throat, etc.) and medical history (heart, kidney problems, diabetes, etc.). Depending on the patient's responses, five propositions:

  • if the algorithm considers the person to be in good health, it recommends staying at home;
  • if he considers that the person has Covid-19, he invites him to call the Samu as soon as possible;
  • if he judges that the patient has health concerns but that he is not affected by the virus, he recommends either consulting a general practitioner or calling the non-urgent care hotline (116-117), or to connect to a teleconsultation platform.
