Preparing for the Olympic Torch “Fire of Reconstruction” at the exhibition hall Miyagi Ishinomaki March 19, 19:40

The Tokyo Olympics' torch was called the “Fire of Reconstruction” and preparations were underway at the park in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, where it will be first displayed.

The torch of the Tokyo Olympics will be exhibited for two days each in Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima prefectures, which have been heavily damaged by the earthquake, as a symbol of the "Reconstruction Olympics", which indicates the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake.

The first exhibition hall, Ishinomaki City's Ishinomaki Minamihama Tsunami Reconstruction Memorial Park, is being constructed to memorialize the victims of the earthquake.

On the 19th, officials were preparing, such as putting on ropes so that ordinary people could easily line up.

The torch arriving at the Ground Self-Defense Force's Matsushima Base in Higashi-Matsushima City will be carried to this park on the 20th, and will be open to the public as "Reconstruction Fire" from 2:40 pm to 7:00 pm.

In order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, the public will be asked to wear a mask, and staff will be instructed to keep visitors at a certain interval without crowding.
