In Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), the volunteers of Restos du Coeur are "disgusted". On Tuesday evening, their distribution center was the victim of a burglary.

More than 850 kg of goods, food, but also stocks of hydroalcoholic gel, were stolen, says Odile Brégand, the president of the structure.

A call for volunteers

Without the rapid intervention of the police, says the volunteer, the damage could have been much greater. Especially since this is the second time since the beginning of the year that this Restos center in Perpignan has been burgled. "We are very angry, we will be forced to put security services," laments Odile Brégand. How can we go after the poorest in this difficult context? "

And despite the current confinement, "we will work to ensure that all the centers that must be opened are open," said the president, who started the association's summer campaign on Monday. But the Restos are appealing for volunteers to help them do "the maximum", to continue to provide food aid to the most disadvantaged in this delicate period. “Our volunteers are often old, a third is over 70. Some have withdrawn. We accept all good wishes. "
