The overseas ministry had to deny Monday any intention to repatriate the overseas students who are in mainland France, after the dissemination of a false press release on social networks.

"A false press release circulating on social networks indicates that students from overseas will be repatriated from March 22, 2020 to slow the spread of the Covid-19 virus. This information is false, no repatriation is planned at this stage, "denounces the overseas ministry, in a press release.

"In the event of a health crisis, the fight against the manipulation of information is even more decisive than in normal situations", underlines the ministry.

The Overseas Territories are at this stage less affected by the coronavirus than the mainland, but the number of infected people is steadily increasing. Currently, only New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna are spared the epidemic.
