The contaminations with the new coronavirus marked a new progression of 1,210 cases and 21 deaths in 24 hours, bringing the official assessment respectively to 148 deaths and 6,633 cases since the beginning of the epidemic in France, announced on Monday the official site Public Health France.
Public Health France does not specify the number of patients in serious condition, placed in intensive care, which amounted Sunday evening to 400, according to the Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon.
The Grand Est and Ile-de-France regions strongly affected
In addition, the figure of 6,633 cases of contamination only concerns patients with symptoms that are sufficiently acute, notably respiratory, to be tested. The majority of those infected are no longer infected.
Faced with the rapid progression of the virus, Ile-de-France (1,762 confirmed cases) and Grand Est (1,543) are the two regions most affected, according to the same source. To cope with and relieve the overwhelmed establishments, on Tuesday, "a certain number of patients in severe condition will be transferred by medical train to make room for the continuous influx of new patients," added the minister. During his televised intervention Monday evening, President Macron announced that a field hospital of the army health service would "be deployed in the days to come in Alsace".
"The hospital is reserved for serious cases"
While the number of cases in France doubles every three days according to the DGS (Directorate General of Health), the Minister once again called on the French to "limit their daily contacts to a maximum of five people".
"If you have gone to a food race, you are doing nothing else," he insisted, while Emmanuel Macron announced a severe restriction on movement of the population for at least 15 days.
