The bishop of Angers tested positive for Covid-19 after a trip to the Vatican, the diocese of Angers announced on Monday on its website. "Archbishop Emmanuel Delmas felt the first symptoms during his stay in Rome last week when he was on an ad limina visit to the Vatican," said the diocese. It is a personal pilgrimage process that every bishop is required to make in Rome every five years.

Thirty confined bishops

"Containment measures have been taken for all the bishops from the West of France who were with him during this stay," said the spokesman for the diocese.

Bishop Delmas “is only slightly affected and his condition does not currently cause concern. He follows the rest and the prescribed treatments and remains in solitary confinement since his return from Italy, ”added the diocese press release. During their Roman stay, the bishops met Pope Francis and his collaborators, according to the same source.
