“I respect the instructions of the government. The presenter of C'est Canteloup on TF1, Alessandra Sublet, joined by 20 Minutes this Monday on the phone, is relatively calm and aware of being luckier than others. The original subject of the interview was the documentary she co-produced, Tony Parker Confidential , which will be broadcast on March 24 on TMC and for which she followed the basketball player in private. But the conversation obviously started with an evocation of the coronavirus pandemic.
We decided to transcribe this part of the interview - before putting the rest of the discussion online in the coming days - because it gives an example of how an animator and producer had to and must compose, in terms of professional, with the unprecedented situation which is currently disrupting the lives of the entire population.
How are you ?
I follow government instructions. I am fortunate to live in the countryside so it changes a lot, it's not quite the same as being confined to an apartment in the city. I feel privileged. I am thinking especially of the hospital staff who are more than ever mobilized to care for our patients. On the other hand, I am, like many, very surprised that a large number of people do not take the measure of what is asked of them. But I tell myself that in the coming weeks things will change.
A worsening of the situation and possible new measures required by the government could effectively change the situation…
You always have to get to the drama for people to realize a situation. When you see what is happening in Italy, it is not trivial. TF1 respects all safety instructions and very quickly took measures for all of its teams. We are a few still able to turn, including Nicolas Canteloup, we are more than a meter away from one other, so everything is respected. We will see until when we can do it.
You have been filming for several days "C'est Canteloup" without an audience…
Yes. The shootings are kept because it is possible. We are on a plateau, we are not next to each other. We respect the instructions. People are confined to their homes, I find it good to be able to give a little lightness in the middle of the flow of information which falls hour by hour and which are not necessarily pleasant to read or hear, even if essential. I'm pretty happy to be able to help keep people entertained during this difficult time.
However it will be difficult not to mention the coronavirus and to try to laugh at it. Isn't that going to be tricky?
Yes, but at the same time Nicolas Canteloup and his authors have always done things well at this level. I think it is important to be able to continue entertaining people, this is the slogan of TF1: “Let’s share positive vibes. "
Concretely, how will your days go? Do you go back and forth between your home and the set without meeting anyone?
We are taken our temperature at the entrance of TF1, which I find to be a good measure, and then, we do not meet many people. There are prevention messages everywhere: in the elevators, on the screens ... We have made our arrangements, we have gloves, masks available, things have been done right. I am also a producer, and on that side, we organized ourselves, the fitters go up to their house. It's possible, so it's perfect. And the journalists I work with can also work from home. We were able to get out the Tony Parker documentary in time.
No technical unemployment in sight in your production company?
We are a reduced team, so no. On the other hand, I have a thought for all the producers of television, cinema and spectacle which are not all in my situation, on the contrary. But this will have consequences for all professions, many people will suffer losses and it is not just the small medium of television which is concerned.
