When I talked, in the past, that world technology leaders decided to see data as the land where digital transformation is emerging and not just the oil of the future, despite the importance of the two things, I wanted to say that data is not just an integral component of strategic or operational plans, but a ready-made pillar Any institution for the future, and what the world expects of it to play its role. This made us in «Smart Dubai» choose to celebrate the World Data Day, which falls on the seventh of March in a different way by providing a guide that we called “data sharing tools”, through which we managed to make the best methods and requirements for data sharing available to all, while we work to open And sharing government data in Dubai.

We have made the data sharing guide available on our website for everyone, so that it will be a starting point for any individual or governmental or private institution in the Emirates or around the world, to start for a world of opportunities to open and share data, and to know the way to ensure data sharing safely, and enable them to achieve the optimum value from their data And we wanted, through this guide, to be part of the UAE’s efforts to enrich the landscape of global digital transformation.

Through our data sharing tools, we have responded to the needs of a diverse group of potential users, such as: innovators around the world who are looking for a tool that enables them to achieve their goals, international organizations, government institutions, the private sector and nonprofits as well. It also serves data specialists who want to upgrade their capabilities, and is also a window for any party that has so far failed to achieve a model for broad data sharing.

Here brings me a quote from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council: «The future has new tools, foremost of which are data that represent the backbone of the fourth industrial revolution, and the true wealth of the future.» It is the vision that made us take on “smart Dubai” not to go unilaterally on the path of preparedness for a data-based future, but to take everyone’s hands because the experiences of the happiest and smartest city on Earth must be shared by everyone in building it.

Through “Data Moments”, this week, I invite you to explore the guide available on the Smart Dubai website, as we made sure to include models for global data sharing initiatives, the decision-making structure to share data, additional sources for those who wish to dig deep, how to start a data sharing project and the foundations for that, And a list of requirements for data sharing projects and even models for managing workshops for teams wishing to implement their data initiative in an interactive way. I wish you a more data-sharing world and smarter decisions, on the occasion of World Data Day.
