A seventh death in France of a person infected with the new coronavirus was confirmed Thursday evening by the Ministry of Health, while 138 new cases have been detected since the day before.

The number of people infected in 24 hours is the highest since the arrival of the coronavirus in France. 138 new cases were identified on Thursday, bringing the total to 423 in total since January. A seventh death was also confirmed Thursday evening by the Ministry of Health.

"In France, we have today at 16h 423 confirmed cases or 138 more than yesterday," announced Thursday evening the Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon during his daily press briefing. "We now have seven people dead, six men and one woman," he added.

All metropolitan regions are now affected by the virus, with the first three cases of coronavirus confirmed Thursday in Center-Val de Loire by the Regional Health Agency. One of the three patients is a 73-year-old woman from Indre-et-Loire, who attended the gathering of an evangelical church in Mulhouse. She is hospitalized at the University Hospital of Tours, said ARS in a press release. This evangelical gathering had brought together nearly 2,000 people from February 17 to 24.
