The Director General of the General Authority of Forensic Medicine in Syria, Dr. Zahir Hajo, confirmed that the number of suicides recorded in Syria during the past year reached 124 cases, 76 males, 48 ​​females, but during the current year it reached 25 cases.

On the causes of suicide, Hajjo explained to "Sham FM" radio station that it is "a natural product of war outcomes, current economic conditions, psychological states, and failed emotional relationships among adolescents, in addition to very few cases as a result of the Blue Whale game."

Regarding the most aggressive suicide for the year 2019 in Syria, Hajo reported that it was a mass suicide case for a mother who opened a gas cylinder at home, causing her to suffocate with three of her children, indicating that women were previously choosing less aggressive methods, as he put it, and most of them are chemical poison and cut The wrist, and to a much lesser degree gunshot, is now choosing to hang, a dangerous phenomenon that is supposed to search for its causes.

He pointed to the high incidence of suicides of minors, which are 13 male, 14 female, pointing out that the statistics are for 10 governorates, with the exception of Raqqa, Deir Al-Zour and Al-Hasakah, which do not receive statistics as a result of the current circumstances.
