Al Ahly may be taking revenge. A year after being eliminated by the Mamelodi Sundowns, the quadruple champion of Egypt defeated this Saturday, February 29, 2020, the South African club 2-0 in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League with a double by Tunisian Ali Maaloul. The first on excellent service from Nigerian Junior Ajayi, the second on penalty.

A victory without conceding a goal which allows the Egyptian team, eight times African champion, to take a serious option on the qualification. But the "Red Devils" must remember that they lost 5-0 in Pretoria last season, at the same stage of the competition.

Yesterday, the other club of Cairo, Zamalek SC has paid the luxury to beat for the second time in two weeks ES Tunis , double African champion in title, 3-1.

Solid Casablanca

Unlike his opponent in the final of the last edition, Wydad did the job against the Etoile du Sahel this Saturday. The Moroccan champion won 2-0 thanks to a double from Mohamed Nahiri. A controlled success that will force the Tunisian club to score at least three goals in the return match on March 7. Unless the decision is made on penalties.

Identical scenario for the Almighty Mazembe, also beaten yesterday by two goals away in Casablanca against Raja, in a boiling Mohammed V stadium (2-0). History will remember that former "Raven" Ben Malongo scored against his former club.
