With a rich cultural program, the Sharjah Book Authority is participating in the 25th edition of the Muscat International Book Fair, which is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information in the Sultanate of Oman until the second of next March.

The authority announced that the participation comes with the aim of introducing the Sharjah cultural project, which was launched nearly four decades ago, and to review the agenda of cultural events and initiatives organized by the authority annually in front of Arab publishers and writers.

The pavilion of the commission witnessed the visit of the adviser to the Sultan of Oman, Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, who received a copy of the book of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, "The register of correspondence of Sultan Barghash Sultan Zanzibar."

During its participation in the cultural event, which this year celebrates its silver jubilee, the commission set an integrated cultural program that includes a series of poetry sessions and meetings with a group of the most prominent authors and Omani and Arab publishers, as it organized a poetry evening entitled “The Pulse of the Poem”, moderated by Dr. Wafa Al Shamsi, and hosted The poet, Sheikha Al-Mutairi, and the poet Hassan Al-Najjar.

The delegation of the authority participating in the exhibition provided an introduction to the options offered by the free zone for the city of Sharjah for publishing, the first free city for publication in the world, and the facilities it provides for publishing houses.

For his part, Director of the Sharjah Book Authority in the Eastern Region, Fadhel Hussain, said that the Muscat International Book Fair has become today one of the most important cultural events organized at the Gulf and Arab levels, adding that “the authority is keen on active presence in the various cultural events that take place at both levels. Arab and international, and the importance of their participation is embodied in the type of activities they offer, in which they express the Sharjah cultural project and the emirate's role in promoting knowledge ».
