A 26-year-old female farmer lost her sense of smell and taste after her skull was broken in a quad bike crash because she was not wearing a helmet, according to the British "Daily Mail" website.

The girl said she was fortunate to be alive after the accident on her family's farm in Conwy, North Wales.

The girl was driving a quad bike when she strayed sharply to avoid the sheep, and fell on her head.

An ambulance rushed to the scene to transport the young woman to the hospital, where she was wounded in the head and neck, and she spent nine months in rehabilitation.

The young woman lost her sense of taste and smell, an incurable condition known as "Anosmia" that can be caused by a brain injury or stroke.
