Suspended production of "White Lover" Feb. 12 at 12:30 due to the decrease in Chinese tourists

As the spread of the new coronavirus has reduced the number of Chinese tourists and sales have declined, Sapporo's confectionery maker has suspended production of its popular souvenirs for nearly a month.

Ishiya Seika, a confectionery maker in Sapporo, plans to suspend production of its flagship product, Shiroi Koibito, at its factories in Nishi-ku, Sapporo and Kitahiroshima, starting from the 20th, and to continue until the 15th of next month.

Among them, the factory in Sapporo City has decided to stop the production from next month to 23rd to 27th.

The reason is that the company is seeing a decline in sales of "white lovers" due to the spread of the new coronavirus and the decline in Chinese tourists.

Ishiya Seika says, "I don't know yet whether the production will be stopped after the current period, as it is up to the situation. I hope that the spread of the new coronavirus will end as soon as possible."
