Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas solemnly affirmed Tuesday February 11 before the UN Security Council that he will reject the Israeli-American peace plan, which is "Swiss cheese" and does not bring sovereignty to the Palestinian people.

"We reject the Israeli-Palestinian plan" which "challenges the legitimate rights of the Palestinians," he said, holding up a large map of Palestine as desired by the United States.

The Palestinian Authority chief had insisted on continuing his speech in New York, despite the renunciation a few hours earlier of a vote to reject Donald Trump's plan before the Security Council.

Supported by Indonesia and Tunisia, the text that Mahmoud Abbas would have liked to bring before the UN risked not having nine votes in his favor (out of fifteen), the minimum required for an adoption, excluding a veto of a member country permanent, said a diplomat. Another source, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said the countries supporting the Palestinians were subjected to "very strong pressure" from Washington with threats of financial "retaliation".

Donald Trump’s Middle East Plan Holds “Two-State Solution” and Offers to Create Palestinian State Capital in Abu Dis, Suburb of Jerusalem, While Palestinians Want to Make All of Jerusalem- Is the capital of their state. It also includes an annexation of the Israeli settlements, as well as the Jordan Valley in the West Bank, a Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, with borders breaking with the lines drawn at the time. Finally, it provides for a demilitarized state for Palestine, altering its sovereignty.

The Palestinians and many of their supporters have denounced an unbalanced plan, far too favorable to Israel.
