Hallin was considered one of the Swedish opera's best and she was involved with the Royal Opera in Stockholm for 30 years.

Hallin could sing loudly as a so-called colorature soprano and she has played, among others, Elsa in Wagner's "Lohengrin" and the Field Marshal in Strauss's "Rosenkavalier".

Hallin was born in Karlskoga in 1931 and she made her debut at the Royal Opera in 1955 as an opera student. Commitment to the opera lasted until 1984 when she retired.

The singing continued anyway, even in recent years. In 2015 she participated in a set of "Faust" in the Gasklockarna in Gävle.

In the mid-1980s, she began to compose music as a self-taught artist. She has, among other things, composed works by August Strindberg.

She was named court singer in 1966 and received the Jussi Björling Scholarship in 1970.

She has been married to violinist and orchestra conductor Inge Boström as well as actor and director Bengt Ekerot.
