Finally you can visit. L'Ambric Lambert, a "small great treasure" Unesco World Heritage Site that was part of the Mediterranean Rock Art since 1998, has just opened a pedestrian walkway that overcomes the orographic difficulties that made it difficult to reach the site.

The entrance to the rock shelter was extremely complicated, since it had to be done through a private plot and practically mountain through. This prevented their visit under normal conditions, the access of experts for the study of the paintings and, logically, their use as an element of tourist revitalization.

Now the area has been conditioned by a metal staircase that starts at Lloma dels Cabeçols Street, in the Valencian town of Cullera. L'Abric is one of the greatest heritage assets that Cullera has, but it is also "the great unknown" by most citizens, so the project seeks to put the paintings in value and bring them closer to neighbors and visitors.

SCHEMATIC ART

On a technical level, the cave paintings belong to the schematic art and are characterized by the simplicity and synthesis of the figures, "seeing everything reduced to the minimum expression" and forming scenes between people and divinities, as explained by the archaeologist and municipal technician of Kike Gandia heritage.

The objective is that the site captures the attention of the public as the sample of parietal rock art closest to the city of Valencia. L'Abric Lambert is in an "unbeatable" state. And it is located on the Cullera mountain, also known as the Gold Mountain, forming part of the southernmost reliefs of the Iberian system.

The paintings are in a rocky opening that the erosion of the calcareous materials created horizontally on the western slope of the mountain, about 65 meters above sea level and in a dominant position with respect to the control of the territory and the plains of flood of the Xúquer river.

Looking ahead, the City Council of Cullera will promote further research to discover if there are more samples of rock art in l'Abric or its surroundings , something that experts believe is quite likely, as the mayor, Jordi Mayor, has advanced at the inauguration .
