Admit it - if you read the news about how an American member of the House of Representatives from the Democratic Party and chairman of the intelligence committee Adam Schiff scares the United States with the return of Alaska, then the immortal hit of the Lube group also played in your head: “You miss the seas, go! That Siberia, that Alaska - two shores: women, horses, expanse on the way! "

But Mr. Schiff is not joking, and this kind of statement is not his first. The man who is called the chief manager of impeachment is very afraid of us Russians. For example, he believes that it doesn’t matter who wins this year’s new US presidential election, because Russia will falsify them anyway. Now, he says that Trump is ready to give “the native countryman Alasochka” - if we help him defeat again.

It is unlikely that a politician seriously believes in what he says. It is unlikely that those who publish and spread these words believe in this. Adam Schiff is not just an opponent of Donald Trump, he is Trump on the contrary. "Our redhead" promises to buy Greenland, Schiff ascribes to him the intention to pay Alaska for help in taunting the American people. Both that and another - the populism calculated on the most uncritical perception. But there is one detail - if the demagogy of Republican Trump is aimed at confirming in our heads the image of a great America, which can buy anything and sell anything, then the performances of the Democrat Schiff just work for great Russia.

The image of Putin, a huge black shadow standing above the world and pulling invisible threads, has been swelling for a long time. He is inflated in spite of our will, in addition to the will of some “brain centers” and “world backstage” (conspiracy theories forgive me). It is created simply because our world is very unstable, that all of us are storming and a great America too, and for most it is much easier and calmer to think that this storm is the work of some kind of, maybe evil, maybe cruel, but human and intelligent creatures.

And therefore, in comic programs on American television channels, which are traditionally considered democratic, in the evening shows from Fallon to Kimmel and vice versa, Donald Trump is usually represented as an idiot by Mitrofanushka, on whom nothing depends, while Vlad Putin, a harsh and laconic scout, in plain text gives him orders. He says what and how to do it. Speaking about Alaska, Schiff simply appeals to the American collective unconscious, in which the figure of Russia and Russians has already established itself like this.

And that is why we should be especially grateful to Mr. Chairman of the intelligence committee.

After all, affirming in the head of the layman the figure of President Trump as the figure of a capricious child wreaking havoc, and the figure of Putin as the figure of his father controlling chaos, he does us a great service. Moreover, this is not so far from the truth. It is no coincidence that our president’s colleague, a former intelligence officer, and now writer John le Carré, called the intelligence services a force that keeps the world on balance.

Mr. Schiff says things that he himself does not believe in. He fantasizes for the sake of momentary political benefits, in order to dump the heavyweight Donald. He does not think that the image settles in the souls of ordinary Americans. And that against the background of confusion, instability and a real, not cold, war between the Democrats and Republicans, the land of Alyasochka may not seem like such a big deal.
