We often remain very attached to the characters of cartoons from our childhood. In Germany, the hero of children who have grown up is nothing but a slice of depressed bread, "Bernd das Brot". "Bernd le pain", broadcast continuously at night on the Kika channel, is now a cult in Germany.

A slice of sad bread is the hero of a whole generation of Germans. This is an article published Tuesday in Liberation which makes us discover this cult character of a German children's program, "Bernd das Brot". "Bernd the bread" is all square, the arms too short, the depressed air with dark circles marked under the eyes, "false airs of François Fillon" according to Liberation . Created in 2000 for a channel intended for children, "Bernd le pain" has become a cult character.

A character for children who still appeals to adults

Far from being conventional, the slice of bread claims the right to be in a bad mood. Children who have become adults have remained very attached to this slice of bread that speaks and does not want anything. His companions are Chili the sheep and Briegel the green bush, which has pink flowers planted on the head.

A columnist for the German version Vice magazine explains that "Bernd the bread" raised thousands of little Germans. Twenty years ago, it had nothing to do with other programs. "He was a bit like us," said the reporter. The sarcastic "Bernd le pain" reflected the image of what they would all become: depressed adults.
