A little bit of slack on the side of TF1. The most watched television channel in France recorded in January its lowest level of historic audience, excluding summer, with 18.8% of average audience share (-0.4 point over a year), according to figures published this Monday by Médiamétrie.

The midday and evenings of the first channel work well but its afternoon programs do not appeal to the success of the afternoons of France 2, with Sophie Davant or Faustine Bollaert.

The sun is shining for France 2

France 2 thus recorded a good progression to 14.3% (+0.7 point over a year), with audience records for Don't forget the lyrics and good scores for certain fictions such as The purple rivers .

France 3 remains almost stable at 9.1% (-0.1), like M6 at 8.8% (-0.1). France 5 remains powerful despite a slight drop, to 3.6% (-0.2), impacted by the new youth program it broadcasts in the afternoon.

TMC (TF1 group) posted a good month of January at 3% bw (+0.2); its competitor C8 remains stable at 2.9%. The two chains are closely followed by Arte which equals its historic record at 2.8% thanks, in particular, to very successful evenings.

A beautiful month of January for L'Equipe

Behind W9 (group M6, 2.6%, + 0.1), RMC Découverte (group Altice) also equaled its record at 2.5% (+0.1). The other channels of the TF1 group, TFX (1.8, -0.1) and TF1 Séries Films (1.7%) are fairly stable. 6ter (group M6) was stable at 1.7%, France 4 at 1.6% (-0.1).

The L'Equipe chain had an excellent winter sports month at 1.5% (+0.3).

The news channels are down slightly compared to a month of January 2019 marked by the high news of the yellow vests, with BFMTV at 2.2% (-0.4). LCI (TF1 group) at 1% (-0.2), CNews at 0.8% (-0.1) and Franceinfo at 0.5%, stable.
