Whistleblower Person in charge of confidentiality with penalties LDP PT February 3 22:22

Regarding the review of the Whistleblower Protection Act, which prohibits unfair treatment of those who have reported whistleblowing, the LDP project team has established laws that impose penalties on confidentiality, etc. We have compiled recommendations for the revision of.

The Whistleblower Protection Act, enforced in 2006, prohibits unfair treatment such as dismissal of whistleblowers, while some have questioned its effectiveness due to lack of penalties.

The LDP project team, which has been considering the whistleblower protection system since October last year, summarized its recommendations at a meeting on March 3.

As a result, the company has set confidentiality obligations on business operators so that information about the whistleblower does not leak out, and further imposes confidentiality obligations on persons involved in whistleblowing with penalties.

Under the current law, even if a person who has retired from the company makes a report, it is not covered by protection, but reports within one year after retirement should be protected.

The project team will report to the party's investigative committee and hand over to the Minister of Consumer Eto later this week.

"We look forward to the government's drafting a revision of the law based on the recommendations we have compiled, and hopefully improving the effectiveness of the whistleblower protection system," said project team chairperson Mitsuhiro Miyakoshi.
