Foreign workers: record 1.65 million more technical trainees, a record increase Feb. 5:53 on February 4

Last year, the number of foreign workers working in Japan surpassed 1.65 million due to a significant increase in technical intern trainees, reaching a record high.

As a result of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare totaling notifications from companies, as of the end of October last year, there were 1,658,804 foreign workers working in Japan.

This is more than 190,000 people, a 13% increase from the previous year, a record high.

▽ China had the largest number of about 418,000, followed by Vietnam with 401,000 and the Philippines with 179,000.

Looking at the status of residence, the most common are Japanese and Japanese spouses of more than 531,000, followed by approximately 383,000 technical intern trainees. There are 329,000 people who have it.

Technical intern trainees have increased by 24% compared to the previous year, the highest rate of increase.

The number of "special skills" newly established from last April was 520 in seven months.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, "We are working to increase the acceptance of foreign human resources, and we want to create an environment where we can work with peace of mind."
