At the original site, the housing building where the incident occurred was demolished, construction began on 29th to build new facilities, and trucks carried large machinery.

The new facility will have a monument to commemorate the 19 victims, and details such as whether or not to name them will be considered in the future.

"We would like to work steadily to restart the new Yamayuri Garden, aiming to become a model facility for a society where we can live together," said Nobuo Yoshida, Deputy Manager of the Kanagawa Prefectural Disability Service Division.

The prefecture has completed construction by April next year and wants to begin entering users around summer.
