Brian May, a guitarist and astronomer of the British rock band `` Queen '', visited an observatory in Kyoto City that continued from the early Showa era, and sent a message saying `` I hope that the observatory will continue to remain as a child's longing '' I told you.

Bryan May, who is visiting Japan for a concert, visited Hanayama Observatory, Kyoto University in the Yamashina-ku, Kyoto city on the evening of the 27th.

The Hanayama Observatory was established in 1965, and has been popular with citizens for astronomical observations for the general public. However, most of the operating expenses have been cut off when the university installed another new observatory, and now Has been operating with donations from private companies.

Last year, a former astronomical observatory, who had a friendship with May, called for support for the observatory, and this visit was realized.

Mr. May, who has a doctorate in astrophysics, was purchased in 1873 with the explanation of the former chief, and toured the oldest "Satrius telescope" in Japan.

He also signed another telescope base and wrote the message, "Forever," so that the observatory would remain.

"It's a very old observatory and it's wonderful. I hope you will find more support to keep it as a child's longing."
