The legislature has started in the worst possible way, with severe blows to the image of Justice by the Government, whose first obligation should be to ensure the strengthening of the pillars of any rule of law. In a matter of days, Sanchez has promised to "dejudicialize the Catalan political conflict" , thus throwing ground on the impeccable action that Justice has been developing in defense of the Law and the constitutional order, and has appointed as the new attorney general of the State to the previous Minister of Justice and deputy of the PSOE, Dolores Delgado , ruining every appearance of impartiality of such a decisive position. The one and the other are cables that the president has begun to take to independence as the first payment for ERC's support for the Sanchist investiture. But what suits and benefits the president to fulfill his personal goals, dynamite the confidence of the citizens in Justice and considerably diminishes the quality of our democracy.

Few issues are of course more important and urgent than returning all their prestige to the judiciary and undertaking their real depoliticization . And, in that sense, it is a magnificent opportunity to offer the Popular Party to the Government advanced yesterday by this newspaper to face a draft reform within the framework of a State pact . The socialists should not drop the offer in broken sack. Because, in reality, PSOE and PP are obliged to sit at a table to address this issue since the contest of both formations is essential to unlock such essential matters as the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary or the Constitutional Court . The popular ones do well, and it is only possible to recognize the success of their initiative, in demanding that Sánchez not want to limit himself to the old and so harmful exchange of cards in the CGPJ to replace the members with an expired mandate . In the current scenario of judicial discredit to which the Government is contributing so much, it would be lethal for the PP to participate in a masquerade. The main opposition party will fulfill the function that corresponds to the current parliamentary arithmetic if it initiates socialist legal reforms to make Justice truly independent.

THE WORLD has always demanded to recover the constitutional spirit in the election of the members of the governing body of the judges and to end the cacicada of Felipe González by which since 1985 the 12 members who elected judges and magistrates are distributed the parties in the Parliament in an unworthy conchabeo . Sanchez has an opportunity to show if he really believes in state agreements.
