Early in the morning of March 13, a motorcycle being tracked by police for violating a speed at an intersection in Neyagawa-shi, Osaka crashed into a light car, killing a 36-year-old man who was driving the motorcycle.

Around 3:30 am on the 13th, a 250 cc motorcycle met a mini car and collided with the headlight at the intersection of National Highway No. 1 in Ikeda-Kitamachi, Neyagawa City.

In the accident, a 36-year-old truck driver living in Otsu City, who was driving a motorcycle, was beaten with his head and was transported to a hospital, but died shortly thereafter. A 50-year-old man who was driving a mini car also struck the whole body.

Police said that the motorcycle had been called off for speeding about a kilometer from the scene, but had been asked to stop, but ignored the traffic lights and continued on the national road, followed by police cars. Police are investigating the situation.

"I believe the pursuit was appropriate, but I'm sorry that the pursued person died," commented Deputy Chief of the Neyagawa Police Station.
