Tom Hanks actor - PictureLux / Starface

Tom Hanks can no longer be cataloged as Mr. Gentil of Hollywood. The actor accustomed to the roles of hero with a big heart was therefore happy to announce to the journalists present behind the scenes of the Golden Globes that he was finally going to play a villain. He will be Colonel Tom Parker, the famous manager of Elvis Presley, in a biopic by Baz Luhrmann devoted to the King as reported by Variety.

"My plan is to travel to Australia to work with Baz Luhrmann," he said, while expressing support for the victims of the fires that are currently ravaging the country.

A precedent all the same

"I'm going to play Colonel Tom Parker, so keep your stupid questions about why I never play bad guys to yourself," continued Tom Hanks. In reality, there is at least one film in which Tom Hanks did not play a good guy. It was in The Circle released in 2017, with Emma Watson and Jon Boyega.

The actor embodied the frankly demonic CEO of a social network ready to permanently destroy private life.
