Actor Bill Cosby during his Pennsylvania trial - Zuma / Starface

Bill Cosby does not give up. The actor, convicted in 2018 for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Costand in 2004, decided to appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Last month, his conviction had already been confirmed on appeal by the state's Superior Court, but this time around, Bill Cosby's attorneys changed their strategy. They accuse the "hysteria" of the #MeToo movement of having had an unfair influence on the trial.

"Some cases have issues that are influenced by public panic fueled by the nature of the allegations, the media and special interest groups. The justice system is likely to fall into a dangerous precipice in this kind of case, “reads the new motion tabled by the advice of the actor, quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.

No chance ?

A last resort that is unlikely to work. As the New York Times notes, the Supreme Court is not obliged to take up the case and its judges very rarely grant appeals. At 82, Bill Cosby is currently serving a 3 to 10 year sentence in Phoenix State Prison, Philadelphia.
