A 7-year-old boy who took part in a swimming lesson in an indoor pool in Koto-ku, Tokyo on the 9th is drowning and has become unconscious.

According to Koto Ward, around 5:30 pm on the 9th, a 7-year-old boy, a first-grade elementary school student, was found drowning in the indoor pool of the sports facility "Ariake Sports Center" in the ward.

The boy has been treated at the hospital, but he is unconscious.

A swimming class was held in the pool, and the boy participated in a beginner's class with 13 other children.

This class was taught by a single instructor, and at that time they practiced getting used to the water by immersing their faces in the 80 cm pool and jumping in the water.

The Ariake Sports Center has closed the pool on October 10 and will discontinue swimming classes until the cause of the accident is known.
