Producer Harvey Weinstein upon arrival in Manhattan court January 6, 2020 - Matthew McDermott / Polaris / Starface

Will Harvey Weinstein Get a Fair Trial? This is the question that can be asked when the start of the proceedings against the deposed producer before the Manhattan Supreme Court already looks extremely chaotic. According to Variety, 43 of the 120 potential jurors (who must be selected by lawyers for both parties) have already said that they could not be impartial during the deliberations.

In order for the trial to take place, the 12 jurors (and 6 substitutes) must undertake to respect the presumption of innocence.

Not so fast

Harvey Weinstein's trial will last between 6 and 8 weeks, if Judge James Burke is to be believed, which means that if everything goes according to plan, it should be finished on March 6. The former boss of Miramax is accused of rape and sexual assault. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

Harvey Weinstein pleaded not guilty, claiming that his sexual relations with the two complainants were always consensual.
