Defendant Kazuhiro Kunimoto, a former Olympic athlete on snowboarding, was accused of violating the Cannabis Control Law for smuggling approximately 57 grams of cannabis from the United States to Japan in December.

On the 8th, the first trial was held in the Tokyo District Court, and the defendants entered the court in black suits, both upper and lower, and admitted that the charges were "unmistakable".

When asked by the judge in the defendant's question when he began using cannabis, he said, "I was 14 years old. I started using it in the United States and Canada and had it in Japan in my early 20s." He revealed that he had been using cannabis for a long time.

He also said about the use of cannabis: "I had been active in the United States since I was young, but I couldn't speak English, so it was communication to smoke cannabis. My wife warned me to stop and then stopped in Japan and went abroad." I said.

He said, "I don't think it's all illegal to associate with cannabis, but I'm not going to do it in Japan because it's illegal."

Meanwhile, the public prosecutor sentenced him to three years in prison, saying, "The attitude of remorse is sparse and the possibility of recidivism is high."

At the end of the hearing, the defendant, given the opportunity to speak, said, "I am sorry and remorse to many people. I'm sorry. I won't do this in the future." The ruling is sentenced on the 28th of this month.
