In the river flowing under Kintaikyo Bridge, a national scenic spot in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, local karate dojo people practiced the New Year's annual cold practice.

This winter lesson is held on January 2 every year and is the 55th time. Again, about 300 students and teachers from the age of 4 to 71 from Yamaguchi and Hiroshima prefectures who attend the local karate dojo participated.

Participants crossed the Kintai Bridge covered with work sheets during the regular maintenance once every five years, and gathered on the riverbed of the Nishiki River flowing below. I went inside.

Iwakuni-shi was fine and the wind was hardly felt on the 2nd, but the water temperature of the river was 7 degrees. The riverbed was filled with tourists and cheering.

The 5th grade elementary school girl who participated said, "The water was very cold. I tried to work hard at the beginning of the year and do my best to study and learn."

A third grader boy said, "It was cold anyway. I thought daily special training was important. I want to continue to practice karate in the future."
