To protest against the pension reform project wanted by the government, the National Federation of CGT ports and docks called, on Thursday, for a “dead ports” operation on January 9th.

In a statement, the union of dockworkers and workers of French ports called Thursday to "continue the fight" after several dates of mobilization during the month of December. For this, he announced that he maintained "the elimination of overtime and exceptional shifts" and continued to carry out the work "in strict compliance with security".

Life expectancy “shortened by eight years” for dockers

The federation also called for holding pickets Monday and Tuesday to "stop work for 24 hours" in a "dead ports operation" on January 9, the day of national inter-professional mobilization at the call of the CGT intersyndicale , FO, Solidaires and FSU. Working longer is "unacceptable" for a profession which, according to the CGT, has seen its life expectancy "shortened by eight years".

The union also criticized the Secretary of State for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, who he said made "disrespectful" comments about them. Dockworkers had already stopped work on December 5, 10, 12 and 17, which corresponded to national interprofessional calls. The federation must decide on Wednesday "modalities of struggle" for the following weeks and recalled its ability to register the movement "over time".
