Relocation of platform at Ginza Line Shibuya Station New Year's Holiday 6 days Closed on some sections December 28 12:53

Tokyo Metro has been relocating the Ginza Line Shibuya Station due to the redevelopment around Shibuya Station.

At the Shibuya Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, the construction of the station building on the third floor of the Tokyu Department Store Toyoko store is now moving about 130 meters east, and construction is being carried out on Meiji-dori.

Construction such as switching tracks and relocating platforms started on the night of the 27th, and on the 28th, a large crane stopped in the work space on Meiji Dori moved materials in and out of the station roof.

In addition, footage of the construction of the new station building was released to the press, explaining that the person in charge removed the current track and installed a new platform.

On the other hand, due to this construction, the Ginza Line has been suspended between Shibuya Station and Omotesando Station and between Aoyama-itchome Station and Tameike-Sanno Station for six days from 28th to 2nd of next month.

At Omotesando station, posters were displayed over the board indicating that the train was canceled, and staff members were using flyers and placards to guide passengers through different routes.

A woman in her 50's who usually uses the Ginza Line said, "Since the Ginza Line at Shibuya Station was inconvenient to transfer, it is welcome to use it more easily."

Yutaka Nishikawa, Technical Manager of Tokyo Metro, said, "The new station will have a wide platform and barrier-free. We want to be able to use it as a comfortable station."

The Ginza Line is scheduled to open at a new station from the first train on the 3rd of next month.
