It was designed in the image of society. Imagined by sociologists Michel and Monique Pinçon-Charlot, Kapital is a board game where a wealthy "dominant" faces "dominated", who represent the rest of society. The goal is to get to tax haven first. Victim of its success, Kapital, was sold in 10,000 copies in less than three weeks.

A Bourdieusian vocabulary

According to Monique Pinçon-Charlot, the success of this game can be explained by its realism. "You have to arrive with money, social, cultural and symbolic wealth. But, as in real life, the dominant has every chance of winning," she explains.

Using sociological theories, researchers want to raise awareness in a fun way to fight against a capitalist society they consider unfair. "The violence in social relations, of domination and exploitation, has become such in the era that we are going through, that it is no longer a class struggle. It is a war," says Monique Pinçon-Charlot.
