Decoration of Kadomatsu at Korakuen, Japan's Three Great Gardens Okayama December 25, 14:59

To prepare for the new year, Kadomatsu was adorned at the front gate of Korakuen, one of the three famous gardens in Japan.

Korakuen's Kadomatsu is hand-made by Korakuen's staff every year using pine, bamboo, and plums from the park.

On the 25th, five staff members and other staff members made Kadomatsu, decorating pine, plum branches, and red-fruited Nanten around three bamboos about two meters high.

After this, the kadomatsu was taken to the main gate, where the staff finally wound the base with a straw-knitted "komo" to complete it.

Korakuen was visited by many tourists on the 25th, taking photos with the newly completed Kadomatsu.

A man from Toyama Prefecture said, "When I look at Kadomatsu, I feel that one year is over and a new year is beginning. I want to try various things next year."

"We created Kadomatsu with the hope that the new year will be a better year for visitors," said Korizaen Office Tomito Kurisaka.
