In March, Ageo spent about 7 million yen for public works in the city, and the construction of a block wall on land owned by former mayor Koji Arai became a problem. The survey has been conducted by the Hyakujo Committee.
However, the committee was asked by the mayor of Hatakeyama to speak with the former mayor and former chairman for details such as the payment of dinner, but it was found that there was no justifiable reason for rejecting the testimony. It was recognized that the former mayor and former chairman gave lie testimony at the committee.
For this reason, the city council decided at a plenary meeting on April 24 that a criminal complaint was filed with Saitama Regional Public Prosecutor's Office against Mayor Hatakeyama and former Mayor Arai, alleging that such an act violated the Local Autonomy Law.
After the assembly, Mayor Hatakeyama stated that the dinner with the former mayor was irrelevant to this issue and only refrained from making detailed remarks, but in the future I would like to consider a method that will not have any doubt.
